Every once in a while it is nice to get away from home and have a short vacation. Of course, we don’t always get to go to the Excalibur Las Vegas, but Boston and Washington DC are both within driving distance and make for great short trips.
If you want to spend a short time away, get a map and then draw a circle from your home to the distance you are willing to travel in a car (for example, 5 hours). Now see what cool things are within this distance. Look up place names on the internet. You might come up with some neat places to visit.

I have actually done this. I couldn’t stay where I wanted in Gran Canaria a few years ago and eventually found an even better place to stay!
