It is very hard to keep kids busy during the summer. I certainly don’t want them spending all their time watching tv, playing playstation 3 or video games. Instead, I have come up with a few ideas to keep them busy.
Do you have any other ideas that I can add to my list?
When I was growing up, my mom built a fountain in our back yard using old wine barrels and a water pump. We added plants and fish to the fountain and it was quite the centerpiece. We never had to worry about aquatic weed control in the small environment even though there are really good products now for ponds and such. I have been searching the internet for plans to build one, but I haven’t come across a good kit yet. If anyone has ever built one of these types of fountains, send me in the right direction! I think this would be a great project for the kids.

I was hoping to rent a beach house in New Jersey this summer for just a few days, but these are so hard to come by! I even tried to trade my orlando timeshare for something at the shore, but nothing was available. The problem is the houses usually rent for a week at a time. I just want to spend a couple of nights. I am going to keep looking, because sometimes houses will become available and the owners just want them rented out. It would be so relaxing to be able to sit by the beach and do nothing for a few days!
Now is the time that I start thinking about doing craft shows for the holidays. If I don’t get all of my stuff prepared in the summer months, I won’t have anything to sell. First, I take an inventory of what I have already. Then, I make a list of items that I need to make. Third, I make myself a schedule so that I can complete enough items. I don’t want to make too many, yet I want to have enough. I have been thinking of getting a POS tm-t88iv to make it easier to print off receipts and take credit cards, but I will have to see if that is in my budget. I found this cute idea for Father’s Day on another blog - Love, Actually. All you need is two tubes of Pillsbury Grands Biscuits, powdered sugar and cinnamon and sugar. Cut a hole in the center of each biscuit with a mini heart for circle cookie cutter or use what you have on hand. Fry the donuts in hot oil and then cover with powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar. What a cute idea!

The end of the school year always bring a lot of stress. We are just finishing up projects, getting ready for final exams and for the 5th grade graduation. I don’t think that I will need to find safe weight loss pills to get into my swimsuit because the stress seems to be melting the weight away! Only three more days left of school and we will be free for the summer. Of course, that brings additional stresses too, but at least I can stress at the beach!
