You should just throw all the toys you have for your kids in the closet, and when christmas gets there tell them to go to your room, and then just open your closet and let the toys fall out, that would be pretty cool for your kids, lol.

My tackle was a lot tastier, not nearly as productive and will probably mess up my Weightloss Wednesday weigh in, lol. I need to go through the kids toys again. We did it before christmas, but as you said - Christmas means another load of stuff, lol.

I never had good luck with the buckets. My kids just dumped the buckets out to find something at the bottom.

Are there any toys that are broken or missing vital pieces? If so, pitch 'em. Anything the kids don't really play with but are still in good condition. Donate those babies. After that, look into getting one of those racks with plastic bins. The frame part is often plain wood or white and the bins are various colors We bought ours at Target on clearance so it was less than $50.

Separate the toys into categories. My daughters toy bins are separated into Polly Pocket clothes, Barbie clothes, play mats for the Fisher Price houses, etc. If your kids can't read yet, cut out a picture of what's supposed to go in that bin and tape it to the front. That way they can help you when its time to pick up.

I still have to help my 6 year old sort her toys out about once a month. If we keep up on it, the toys stay pretty good. Thank goodness my 13 year old is beyond the toy stage! :-)
