Did you ever sell textbooks at the end of your course in college to hopefully get some needed cash? I was talking to my daughter about college and I was telling her about the textbook buy back program. We would stand in line with our textbooks. When we got to the counter, the man would add up what we would receive back (it was always a fraction of the price we paid) and then had us a stack on $1 bills. He never counted the bills, just took some from a pile. The funny thing was, he was always spot on. I don’t know how he did it, but he always gave us the correct amount of dollar bills.

You would get more for your books if you sold them online. And you’d save money initially if you bought them online too. I say avoid the campus bookstore. The campus bookstores screw you twice. They charge too much for the books initially, and then they give you very little back when you sell to them. That’s why I now use http://www.bigwords.com for my purchasing and selling back (and also renting if you are so inclined) They are a textbook search engine that searches all the online textbook retailers and rental sites to find you the best prices. And at the end of the semester you can use them to search for resellers to sell your book to. All the search results are organized by price so you can buy your books for the lowest prices and sell them back for the highest.

Great information. I wanted to recommend http://www.textbookspy.com. Textbook Spy saved me a ton of money on my kid’s textbooks. It definitely helped me find the cheapest prices and best store for renting and buying their textbooks.
