Not really. I didn’t grow up here. But that is the State Song. Although New Jersey has a bad reputation we are “first” in many ways:
- New Jersey has the highest population density in the United States – average 1,030 people per square mile.
- New Jersey has the highest property taxes in the nation.
- New Jersey has more people living in urban areas – 90%.
- Every county in New Jersey is classified as a metropolitan area.
- New Jersey is the car theft capital of the world.
- New Jersey has the most diners in the world.
- New Jerseyans frequently get a new auto insurance quote, because we have the highest auto insurance rates.
- New Jersey is the largest chemical producing state in the United States.
- New Jersey has the tallest water tower in the world.
- The first baseball game was played in Hoboken, New Jersey.
- The first intercollegiate football game was played in New Brunswick, in 1869. Rutgers College played Princeton. Rutgers won.
Just some firsts from New Jersey!
