Not really. I didn’t grow up here. But that is the State Song. Although New Jersey has a bad reputation we are “first” in many ways:

  1. New Jersey has the highest population density in the United States – average 1,030 people per square mile.
  2. New Jersey has the highest property taxes in the nation.
  3. New Jersey has more people living in urban areas – 90%.
  4. Every county in New Jersey is classified as a metropolitan area.
  5. New Jersey is the car theft capital of the world.
  6. New Jersey has the most diners in the world.
  7. New Jerseyans frequently get a new auto insurance quote, because we have the highest auto insurance rates.
  8. New Jersey is the largest chemical producing state in the United States.
  9. New Jersey has the tallest water tower in the world.
  10. The first baseball game was played in Hoboken, New Jersey.
  11. The first intercollegiate football game was played in New Brunswick, in 1869. Rutgers College played Princeton. Rutgers won.

Just some firsts from New Jersey!
