My Pet History
My 4 year old son really wants a dog. He just loves dogs and has never been afraid of them. I would get him one, but my husband is not really a dog person. They are a lot of work and when you go on vacation you have to find someone to care for them.
My 7 year old daughter, on the other hand, wants a cat. I think she wants a cat to snuggle up with her on her bed each night and keep the nightmares away.
I have always been an animal person. We had a couple of cats, a dog, two hamster, a parakeet and a couple of mice as pets when I was growing up. I also had a black cocker spaniel for a while as a adult as well as a number of cats. It was a sad day when Katelyn the cocker spaniel passed away. Since then we’ve had a couple parakeets and a few fish.
Right now my daughter has a pet fish named Goofy. She won him at the carnival last year. He was only about one inch long when she brought him home. He is now a monster fish! This is the biggest goldfish I have ever seen. We had to buy a bigger tank because he grew so big.

Pretty fish! We are animal people, too. Hope your kids get their wishes.

Pets really are a lot of work and responsibility. You’ll know when the time is right.

I like fish, so relaxing to watch them swimming around in their elegant beauty. My preference right now, though, is a pet that can cuddle up at night! :0)

That is a big fish! I’m embarrassed to say what happened to my daughters fish she won at a carnival. May he R.I.P.

Girl, I think it is a Koi. Get your husband to dig a backyard pond. LOL
Always hit the safety/protection issue when trying to convince men about dogs. “When you are not there, honey, I worry so… yada yada yada”

That is great that you bought the fish a bigger tank… a lot of people don’t get that far! Maybe you will have to build it a pond outside. That would be cool!

Wow, that’s amazing that that fish got so big… those things rarely live more than 5 minutes after you get home!
