Fruit Trees

We have a pretty big back yard. It is all fenced in with a playset on one end and a big tree in the corner. Every year I say that I am going to plant some small fruit trees and I never do it! This year I will!

Now I just need to decide what I want to plant. I think it will be two apples (for cross-pollination) and a peach tree. My favorite apple is the Pink Lady, but I can’t get a dwarf tree for that one. I also love the Gala apples. My husband is a big fan of the Golden Delicious. I usually get my trees from Stark Brothers and this year they have a 5-N-1 Apple Tree. It is a Semi-Dwarf that has five different apples grafted in - Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, UltraMac, Red Rome Beauty and Lodi.

I wonder if that would grow well in New Jersey?

I’m a little worried about my pear tree this year. It started blossoming a few weeks ago and we are still getting some slight freezing weather. Windows on the cars were frozen today. Last time we got blossoms before the freeze went away we got no pears :(

That’s pretty nifty. I’d put up an apple tree if I even had a backyard. They’re nice to have. :)
