Thursday Thirteen - 13 Things to Throw Out In Your Medicine Cabinet
If you are like me, you have a ton of old and useless stuff floating around in your medicine cabinet. Here is a list of items that you need to discard:
- Expired medicines, including vitamins, cold syrups, weight loss pills and prescriptions. Read this to find out how to dispose of them the proper way.
- Lip Gloss and Lipstick only has a shelf life of eight months to a year.
- Mascara, you should be replacing this every five weeks.
- Skin Cleansers are good for 6 months to a year, toners for one year.
- Moisturizers and lotions are good for 6 months to a year as well. Unopened they can be kept for a couple years.
- Sunscreen - check the expiration date. It usually will not last season to season.
- Perfume. If you don’t wear it, toss it. Or sell it on eBay. I have seen a number of partially used bottles go for a good price. Throw it away if the smell as changed as well.
- Nail Polish, when it gets gunky!
- Duplicates. Toss them or store them in the hall closet or other areas.
- Items that you just don’t use very often. Find another place to store them.
- Items you have used but didn’t like. Why do we keep these?
- First Aid Supplies. Instead of keeping them in your medicine cabinet, construct a first aid box that is easy to carry throughout the house.
- Anything that doesn’t smell good. It must have gone bad!
Take out all the items, wipe down the inside and restock!
