Homes for Sale

I am almost through with my vacation and will have pictures to post soon! While I was in Utah, I saw some fantastic homes for sale and was blown away by the prices. Since I live in New Jersey, I tend to think that housing in the rest of the US is just as expensive, but once you head west, the housing prices become much more reasonable. Here is a beautiful home in Utah. It has seven bedrooms, four and one half baths, finished basement complete with home theater seating, covered deck, swimming pool and is one 1/2 acre of property. The annual taxes are $3000 which is LESS than 1/2 of what I pay in New Jersey for less home and less property. The asking price is $650,000. Wow! This home would be over $1 million in my part of the country. I think I need to move!

Politics

I haven’t been keeping up with my blog lately, because I have been too busy worrying about politics both national and at the state level. My candidate of choice has bowed out after the Super Tuesday primaries and now I feel that there is no real candidate that appeals to me. And in New Jersey, our governor has come up with a fantastic (sarcasm) plan to pay down New Jersey debt by increasing the tolls and making more debt! Great plan!

Instead of worrying about all that, I have decided that I should take a look at Branson real estate rentals and see if I can find a nice place to get away for a few days. I hear that Branson is an enjoyable place to stay and there is lots to do, so maybe I will give it a try.

Town Council

We have had a lot of complaints recently about what is going on in our town. This year there are three sets of council members running for council, all under the Democratic ticket. As I was looking at the signs in peoples’ yards, one named seemed familiar. I looked it up and it is the Principal of our local Elementary School. Then about a week later, someone knocked on my door. She looked really familiar. She introduced herself as the secretary at the same Elementary School. Her husband is running for town council. But guess what? The Principal and the Secretary’s husbands are on different tickets. Hmmmm….. wonder if that will cause problems?

Update on Governor Corzine

I have already posted that our New Jersey Governor was in a car crash and although I still wish him well, I am a little upset about how things transpired.

1. Governor Corzine was not wearing his seatbelt. He was sitting in the front seat. The doctors think that he was EXTREMELY lucky.
2. A State Trooper was driving the car. In my opinion, he shouldn’t have gone anywhere without every passenger buckled in. I don’t care if he is the Governor.
3. The State Trooper was doing 91 MPH on the NJ Turnpike. The speed limit on this road is 65 MPH. Opps.

Maybe a lot of the problems could have been adverted if the laws were followed. Governor Corzine will have a little bit of explaining to do!

Prayers for Governor Corzine

I learned last night that our Governor, Jon Corzine, had been involved in a serious automobile accident. The accident was caused by a red pick-up truck that was driving erratically. Corzine suffered numerous fractures but sustained no head injuries. It will be weeks before he can resume his duties. Richard Codey is taking over as Governor while Corzine recovers.

This is not the first time that Codey has had this position as Acting Governor. He also had this position after our previous Governor (McGreevy) resigned due to a sexual scandal.

I wish Governor Corzine and his family well. I do not agree with all of his politics, but I believe that he has actually been trying to clean up the corrupt New Jersey government.

On a side note, this is the second accident I have heard about where a car was driving erratically, caused an accident and then drove off. The other incident involved two young kids who were both killed. I have seen it many times on New Jersey highways. Kids in cars, racing each other, swerving in and out of traffic. This has got to stop!
