Teen Gift Guide

holiday teen gift guide badge 2My daughter has decided to start her own blog - Gifts For Teenagers. She has started blogging, but is a little behind on her gift guide. She is working hard to catch up!

Basically, she is blogging about cool gifts for teenagers. Since she is a teen, she has a good insight into what teens want as gifts. Check out her blog and let her know what you think!

Blogging Makes Me Happy

I have been an on and off journal writer for many years. Once I discovered that I could type faster than I could write, my handwriting has gone way down hill as has my journal writing. I was introduced to blogging because I own a work at home site. After taking a few SEO courses, the instructor suggested that we add a blog to our sites. I taught myself how to install a blog and format it and from there I was hooked.

bloggin happy

It wasn’t easy at first to think of things to write about, but after I decided that I really could write about anything, it became much easier. Blogging exploded for me! I purchased a couple more domains that focused on the things that I am passionate about and started learning more about how to make each of my blogs successful.

I love that I am able to but my thoughts down on paper and I also love that I am able to make a few extra bucks as well. This enables me to pay for summer camps and extra things for the kids and myself that I wouldn’t necessarily be able to afford.

I made this little video about blogging and why it is so fabulous! If you have any daughters that are between 5 and 12 you will definitely recognize the song. Unfortunately, you will have to endure my singing!

Happy New Year!

Ok, I am a day late, but we had a busy time! Of course, I ended up getting sick with a migraineand went to bed at 9:30pm on New Year’s Eve. My two daughters and husband stayed up to welcome in the New Year though. Here are a few things I want to accomplish with this blog this year:

  • Change the theme. I hate it now.
  • Re-organize the categories. Make them more streamlined.
  • Try some new advertising programs.
  • Try and get some more traffic.

What are your blogging goals for 2008?

I was reading through a bunch of other’s Thursday Thirteens and I think I found the funniest one! Tuna News provides - Thirteen Ways Barbie Has It Better Than I Do. You have to read it.

My favorites are numbers 8 and 9:

8. Barbie: Pool
8. GreenTuna: Hose

9. Barbie: Gathers her friends around the pool (with slide and umbrella) for relaxation and fun!
9. GreenTuna: Hose

QOTW - What are your vacation plans?

We are taking it easy this summer and not flying anywhere. We are driving to Virginia and staying in a resort for one week. We have been there before and it is really nice.

Tess keeps changing her plans, but hopefully she will get to go to Orlando!

If you are a work at home mom or work at home woman, please join in the Question of the Week. After answering the question, please leave a comment and I will add all responses to a separate post with a link back to your blog.

There is even a section that focuses on famous door knockers. Included in the posts are a door knocker that is 2 1/2 thousand years old, a brass knocker in the shape of a nose and a medusa head knocker. Medusa’s hair is being held up by Perseus’s hand (he is the one that cut off her head according to Greek mythology.)

Tips for Parents

I came across an interesting blog post at the Fuel My Blog Blog: The top ten reasons to give your teen a computer in their bedroom. My favorite one is:

9. You don’t mind them giving out your home phone number, address and location of the school they go to, to every “friend” who instant messages them. Heck, you’ve always wanted your child to be more popular anyway!

Bottom line, if you give your children a computer, make sure you are protecting them from online predators!

IKEA

I love IKEA. Unfortunately, it is a bit far from my house, so I don’t get there too often. If you love the items at IKEA, you need to read ikea hacker blog. The blog includes lots of innovative ways to use IKEA products, advice and fixes. Have a question? Click on the forums and maybe someone can help you put together that bookcase or table!
